What can we see when our notion of "viewpoint" is expanded? In a
"multiple-center-of-projection image," (described in the SIGGRAPH
paper by that title) each column in the image is acquired by a different
camera location. The "camera" in these images is no longer a single
point in space, but rather a 3D curve - which can twist through a scene
and surround objects. The resulting image captures many different
viewpoints simultaneously and may exhibit strange distortions which are
impossible to create with conventional modeling and rendering tools.
